Bahia is the soul of Brazil, the land of carnival, candomble, capoeira, maculele and samba. It's the land where people sing and dance in the streets, where the wealthy and poor get together to celebrate the popular holy days. Bahia - where sacred and profane live side by side in harmony. Bahia - the land of happiness.
Happiness, harmony, a little bit our the soul of Brazil - this is what the Bahia group wants to bring to you through our energetic performances and teachings.
Our troupe starts performing the maculele, a dance that was created by the enslaved Africans in Brazil while working in the sugarcane plantations. This dance is performed either in woodsticks or with knives (as in its origin). Following comes the capoeira, a unique form of art - martial art. Dance of rare plasticity. The most graceful physical expression of fight for freedom. This singular art combines dance, music, gymnastics, and acrobatics enchanting the public with its vigor and softness.
The last part of the show is dedicated to the most popular Brazilian music and dance, the samba! Our artists will sing and dance to this rhythm that mixes the strong beats of Africa with the sensuality of the Brazilian tunes.
At the end there is an explosion of energy, when the audience and performers will celebrate together in a fusion of color, dance, and sounds of Brazil.
